Debbie Wasserman-Schultz:
The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Last night on Fox News host Shepard Smith asked DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz about a comment she had made that was being reported by the newspaper The Washington Examiner.

In the comment, Wasserman-Schultz supposedly said "We know, and I've heard no less than Ambassador [to Israel] Michael Oren say this, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous to Israel."

Well that got back to Oren, who then denied ever saying anything like this to Wasserman-Schultz or anybody else.

Live on camera last night at the Democratic National Convention, Wasserman Shultz denied forthrightly ever saying any such thing.  She said The Examiner had 'misquoted' her.
“I didn’t say he said that,” Wasserman Schultz insisted. “And unfortunately, that comment was reported by a conservative newspaper. It’s not surprising they would deliberately misquote me. What I always say is that unfortunately the Republicans have made Israel a political football, which is dangerous for Israel. And Ambassador Oren has said that we can’t ever suggest that there is any daylight between the two parties on Israel because there isn’t. And that that’s harmful to Israel. That’s what I said, and that is accurate.”
BUT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER HAD AUDIOTAPE.

Jim Hoft at The Gateway Pundit has the scoop:

In any case, this is hardly how you want your 1st day's DNC to go, with your Chair getting caught telling a bold-faced lie on camera.  There was already enough of a furor over the Democrat's changing their platform on Jerusalem & abortion, as well as removing the word 'God'.

BTW, here's Dick Durbin acting like a dick when he's asked why the Democrats made these changes to their platform. Watch how defensive he gets when simply asked for an explanation:

UPDATE:  Asked today if she'd like to apologize to Washington Examiner reporter Phillip Klein for going on TV and claiming he 'deliberately misquoted her' on something ambassador to Israel Michael Oren has supposedly said, Wasserman-Shultz refused:

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) told the Washington Free Beacon Wednesday evening that she will not be apologizing to Washington Examiner reporter Philip Klein after she falsely accused him of “deliberately misquoting” her.
“No, I definitely will not” offer Klein an apology, Wasserman Schultz said with a slight laugh as she was exiting an event meant to honor Center For American Progress founder John Podesta.
Asked if she had a message for Klein, Wasserman Schultz bristled.
“I don’t,” she said.
